Dermal fillers have been used extensively since the 1970s to enhance and restore facial features without invasive surgery. At &Eve Aesthetics, we offer dermal filler treatments for a range of facial concerns. We believe that maintaining your unique beauty is best achieved by subtly correcting facial flaws without overtreating. This is the key to ageing gracefully so that you can be the best version of you.
From our clinic in Sutton Coldfield, we offer a range of non-surgical cosmetic treatments to combat the signs of ageing, whilst maintaining a natural appearance.
Dermal fillers are injectable substances containing hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring compound found in the body. It cushions and lubricates areas such as the eyes, joints, connective tissues and, of course, the skin. As we age our HA levels deplete. The loss of collagen and elastin results in skin that lacks hydration, plumpness, elasticity and firmness. There are other factors which can contribute to facial ageing, such as the loss of bone mass, fat pads and muscle tone, leading to facial hollows, sagging and deeper folds in the skin. The beauty of dermal fillers is that they can address all of these issues effectively without surgery. They come in a range of viscosities, from fine, almost liquid consistencies for finer procedures to thicker gels, which are more structurally supportive for the skin’s tissues.
At &Eve Aesthetics we only use CE marked or FDA-approved clinically proven dermal fillers from pharmaceutical companies that are globally respected and that will only supply to medical practitioners.
Dermal fillers can help with a myriad of skin and facial concerns from correcting finer lines and wrinkles to restructuring facial contours. Some of the treatments we offer at &Eve Aesthetics include: (link to wiki page )
• Tear trough correction (under eye bags and dark circles)
• Lip augmentation (re-shaping and adding volume to the lips).
• Cheek enhancement (lifting and creating structure and support to both the upper and lower face).
• Deeper wrinkle smoothing (marionette lines, nasolabial folds).
• Chin and jawline contouring.
Most patients who are experiencing facial ageing, are unhappy with a specific facial feature or who simply wish to improve the quality of their skin can benefit from dermal filler enhancements. We can only treat patients who are over 18, and as with any injectable procedure there can be reasons why the treatment is not advisable or suitable. We will always ask you to attend a preliminary consultation at our Sutton Coldfield clinic so we can ensure that a dermal filler treatment will not only be effective in delivering significant results but is medically safe for you to undergo.
A topical or local anaesthetic is usually applied 30 minutes prior to a dermal filler treatment to ensure you are comfortable throughout. Once the area to be treated has been numbed your skin will be cleansed and sterilised with a gentle antiseptic. We will either choose a needle or a cannula to inject a specifically chosen dermal filler into the area. It should not be painful as most dermal fillers now contain an anaesthesia called lidocaine. You may feel some tugging or pulling of the skin tissues if a cannula is used but this should not feel uncomfortable. When the dermal filler has been injected your practitioner may mould and shape the facial contour with their fingers, so that the product integrates smoothly under the skin. When the treatment is completed you can return to your daily activities whilst adhering to any aftercare advice that we offer.
There is no ‘clinical’ downtime following a dermal filler treatment, i.e. a period of recovery at home. Serious side effects are very rare. Common mild or temporary side-effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness and sometimes redness. These are all-natural responses to an injectable treatment and should subside within a few hours to a few days.
Most dermal fillers physically augment the skin tissues, meaning they will sit within and beneath the skin to support its structure. Therefore, you will see some results immediately following your treatment. However, you will need to allow any swelling to subside and for the dermal filler to integrate fully within the skin before you see optimum results. This can take up to two weeks and it is at this stage that you will be invited to return to the clinic for a follow-up appointment.
This depends on many factors which include:-
• The area of the face that has been treated and the regularity of muscle movement.
• The viscosity of the product that has been used.
• Your individual metabolism of the HA within the dermal filler product.
• Certain lifestyle choices (smoking, vigorous exercise and excessive sun exposure can affect your skin and the longevity of your results).
• External factors such as UV light and environmental pollution can affect the longevity of your results.
• Other facial treatments that may compromise and break down the dermal filler within the skin.
